FINAL STEP 8: GOOGLE FOLDERS

FINAL STEP 7: GOOGLE DOCUMENTS

FINAL STEP 6: EMBEDDING VIMEO

This group of Untethered people walk across these lines thousands of feet in the air free solo. They are experiencing the unthinkable. This video's cinematography  makes it that much more intriguing to watch. As it is incredibly nail biting to watch, it is incredible watching these people cross the world record of walking the longest distance on a rope. I think that it is amazing and incredibly interesting to watch these people do this unthinkable activity.

FINAL STEP 5: EMBEDDING YOUTUBE

The Samsung Gear VR allows this father to experience the birth of his third child during a virtual birth with his wife. This father is away from home working for his family, and now Samsung VR brought this family together virtually allowing the father to be able to experience his child's birth. I think that this technology is the next best thing, allowing families to be together during experiences like this. The Samsung Gear VR created the first virtual birth, allowing this family to be able to share this experience together in a 360 degree view. Not only was the father able to watch it, it was like he was present there in the same room while wearing the headset. This incredible technology is very advanced and allows for so many things to be possible.

Microsoft HoloLens has enabled us to visual our work through holograms. I think that these new ways of sharing ideas allow us to change the way we see the world. Microsoft HoloLens gives us more immersive ways to teach and learn across the world. Collaboration is expanded and it gives us more opportunities to explore various places in the world through holograms. I think that it is amazing that Microsoft HoloLens allows us to create things that we previously had only imagined.

Immersive Education has showed us on iED Buzz the various technologies that companies are coming out with today and in the future. They are showing us what we are capable of being able to do in the future and even today with technologies like The Samsung Gear VR and Microsoft HoloLens. iED Buzz shows us the future we have. Immersive Education is only a step toward the future of the amazing technologies on their way.

Video Games as Collaboration Tools

Virtual Reality in video games are being used as collaboration tools in our society today. This has enabled all people to use video games as a way to work together and create things. Minecraft and Second Life are two examples of how people are using these video games for collaboration tools. Minecraft, a video games that uses building blocks to create other tools does not seem to be a collaboration tool. However it goes beyond just that. Second Life is a game that is similar, although it uses avatars rather than blocks. Second Life can be used with text chat to communicate and collaborate with others.

Minecraft's ability to be unique and use your imagination allows users to use it as a collaboration tool. You can work together with one another and travel to different worlds by sharing the Ip address of the location. This allows you to see others creativity and uniqueness of their world. You can use the text chat feature to communicate with one another.

Minecraft has become much more popular since it first was released. It is now being used as a learning tool for children. In some schools, it is being used educationally for kids to collaborate with one another to build places, buildings, and "towns" as a method of team building. Minecraft allows people to go beyond the tools that it provides, it enhances you to collaborate with others on how to create different tools to make your world better. No persons world is the same. They are all unique on how you create it. Some may resemble a real life place, where others are totally based upon ones imagination.

Second Life is a virtual world video game that has thousands of different places. Some of these places being real places in our world today. The server is world wide based. So you can meet anyone on this site as a collaboration tool. Second Life is known to have a "leader". Once someone is considered a leader in this game they collaborate with one another to go to another world to experience it for themselves, or simply chat with others. This video game has a text chat feature that allows people to collaborate, communicate and form relationships with. You can meet your your fellow workmates or classmates even to discuss a topic on the table at work. The possibilities are endless.

Second Life overall is a game that can be used individually or by meeting up with other people. It will always show you who else is in the world at that specific time, giving you the opportunity to collaborate with one another. This in return allows for you to collaborate with people from all over the world. Many locations in Second Life are environmentally based. That is to say that many of these places are either a beach location, winter related so perhaps an ice skating rink, or a jungle or forest. Each of these locations draws in different people interested in that environment.

Over the years, video games have expanded beyond just mario kart in your living room. They have taken it to a whole other level. Minecraft and Second Life are just two that are examples of video games being an example of collaboration tools. Virtually being able to connect with others through a game like these two enhance team building, collaboration and ideas in the world.

VR Collaboration

Virtual Reality is changing the future of collaboration within our world today. It has opened doors to connectivity that we never saw before virtual reality headsets were created. Before these devices, there was no other way than to psychically be in a place to experience it. With virtual reality, we can experience different environments, connect with people, collaborate in different ways, and experience things in a virtual way.

Collaboration through virtual reality has so much potential. Today, there is the possibility of having a virtual meeting in a business with a product like the Oculus Rift or the Samsung Gear VR. These devices give us the opportunity to collaborate with coworkers, or potential coworkers all by wearing the headset. Even if you are across the world from one another, you can make it happen all with virtual reality. This makes it more likely to have a meeting because it can happen anywhere anytime.

Virtual Reality has made it possible for soldiers in the armed forces to connect and collaborate with their family and friends back home. It is hard enough for these soldiers to travel back home at such difficult times. In one case, a father was unable to attend his child's birth in person due to distance. So as an alternative, he had the opportunity to attend it virtually. He was able to watch and attend his child's birth through virtual reality. It was basically as if he was there.

War zone training is now being used by the army virtually. Virtual Reality allows for soldiers to sit down, and put on the headset and train for when they are in remote areas of the world in combat. This allows them to get a feel of the grounds before they are actually there. The 360 arial view of the headset enhances the feel of it being real, virtually. Virtual Reality is a clear step towards training the people fighting for our country more aware of the places they are traveling to.

Virtual Reality has also recently been introduced to Realty. Real Estate companies have now introduced virtual reality as a collaboration tool to use with potential buyers. It is intended to be used to show virtual tours for homes. It is primarily used for more expensive homes due to the high cost of using the virtual headset such as the Samsung Gear VR which goes for about $500-$700 per tour. This could be a potential great benefit for buyers and sellers. Collaboration through this virtual reality headset in real estate will soon be available to may other companies.

Class 12: Google Drive folders

Google Drive Folders:

This is a screenshot of where you can drag and drop files into your folder on Google Drive.

This is a screenshot some of the files I have in my IMMERSION 2016 folder on Google Drive.

This is a screenshot of some of the files and photos I have in my Immersion 2016 folder on Google Drive.
Here is a screenshot of me about to share my Immersion 2016 folder with my classmates.

Class 12: What is Google Drive?

Google Drive is a file storage service created by Google. It synchronizes your files into one place. Google Drive allows you to save within the cloud, share with other users, edit documents, spreadsheets and presentations with collaboration. You can store and access your files in Google drive anywhere, on any device. Google Drive allows you to back up your files on the go or on your hard drive. Anything you do on Google drive is automatically saved because it is a stand alone server.

Google Drive gives you access to free web based applications such as documents, spread sheets, presentations, etc. You are able to share these documents with other users that you are connected with on Google plus. You can invite other users to edit or view these files in your google drive. Google has also created a chat feature that allows you to chat with your peers on google while collaborating over a document, spreadsheet or presentation. This makes google drive easy to use and a "one stop" place that all of your files are stored.

Google Documents is much like Microsoft Word making them competitors. Google Docs is very easy to use and straight forward. It allows you to add a link, photo, and all other standard tools in a document. Google Drive allows you to access all of your documents in one spot, making it more favorable over Microsoft word in my opinion. It is more easily accessible, for example you can access it on your phone and print directly from it where as with Microsoft Word, you need to have the application on a computer.

Google Spreadsheets and presentations are other applications that are available with Google Drive. They are much like the spreadsheet and Slideshow of Microsoft Word. These applications are very easy to use and are saved automatically in your drive. The online collaboration of google spreadsheets and presentations allows you to edit and share with other users. This makes working on a project, or business work, or just sharing a document in general that much easier and accessible.

Class 11, Instagram as a collaboration tool

Instagram is a collaboration tool that is owned by Facebook. It is an app that is available on all smartphones, as well as a website that you can view photos or videos. Instagram is known for its photo and video posts. It is a fairly easy to use interface. Instagram is very popular among people of all ages from kids to adults. Hashtags are used in captions on Instagram to direct people to one area that they can view and collaborate with other people who are posting something with the same hashtag. It has grown to be very popular over the past years and has become one of the top social networking apps.

Instagram allows you to share to other social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, etc. This allows for a large collaboration tool. The intended purpose for this is that it can be seen on a wider platform. For example, you may not have the same friends on Facebook, twitter, and Instagram. Therefore, by sharing it on multiple social networking sites, you are allowing more people to see it and collaborate about what it is that you are posting.

The explore feature of Instagram is something that allows you to see photos and videos that people that you follow have liked. This collaboration tool is interesting because it shows you things that you may like that you would not see otherwise.  The accounts that appear on the explore page have to be public accounts in order for you to see them.

While Instagram is one of the most popular social networking sites, it still does not have as much collaboration as others like Facebook. Instagram still has a growing network and becoming more popular. Instagram is used in the business world to market their business or product, which can be seen from a large platform by using various hashtags and direct tags.

Class 11, Snapchat as a collaboration tool

Snapchat is a popular collaboration app used by many people to exchange photos and videos. Snapchat allows you to add friends through your contacts in your phone or by manually entering in a username. If you receive a snapchat, you are only allowed between 1 and 10 seconds to view it. The person sending the snapchat can choose the amount of time the photo can be seen. After that, the photo disappears. However, you are allowed to screenshot a snapchat that you receive, which takes away from the purpose of it disappearing. You are notified by snapchat that someone has screenshotted one of your snapchats. One feature of snapchat is that you can replay one, and only one snapchat in a 24 hour span.

Snapchat is not necessarily an app that is used securely and safely. It is more so an app that is used to communicate with friends and family by sending photos and videos. Snapchats interface is very easy to use. You simply take a photo by clicking the button or holding it down for a video. You are then given the option to choose your recipients or making a "my story" which is visible for all of your followers to see. A "story" differs from a single snapchat because your followers are able to view it more than once.

The users of Snapchat vary entirely in age. Several celebrities have made their username public for their followers to follow them and see what they are doing. Sports teams have also done the same showing behind screen footage of the locker room or not "on the field" things. Snap chat has a feature that allows people to post to a live feed such as "Patriots vs Jets". This live feed is able to be viewed by all snapchat users. You can upload a photo, or video but it is run through snapchat to authorize that it is appropriate and relevant to the feed itself.

Another feature of snapchat is the "discover" page. This part has posts and videos from other sites such as Buzzfeed, ESPN, Tastemade, national Geographic, Daily Mail, CNN, and many others. You can click and watch any one of these. After 24 hours, they will refresh to the new posts.
