VR Collaboration

Virtual Reality is changing the future of collaboration within our world today. It has opened doors to connectivity that we never saw before virtual reality headsets were created. Before these devices, there was no other way than to psychically be in a place to experience it. With virtual reality, we can experience different environments, connect with people, collaborate in different ways, and experience things in a virtual way.

Collaboration through virtual reality has so much potential. Today, there is the possibility of having a virtual meeting in a business with a product like the Oculus Rift or the Samsung Gear VR. These devices give us the opportunity to collaborate with coworkers, or potential coworkers all by wearing the headset. Even if you are across the world from one another, you can make it happen all with virtual reality. This makes it more likely to have a meeting because it can happen anywhere anytime.

Virtual Reality has made it possible for soldiers in the armed forces to connect and collaborate with their family and friends back home. It is hard enough for these soldiers to travel back home at such difficult times. In one case, a father was unable to attend his child's birth in person due to distance. So as an alternative, he had the opportunity to attend it virtually. He was able to watch and attend his child's birth through virtual reality. It was basically as if he was there.

War zone training is now being used by the army virtually. Virtual Reality allows for soldiers to sit down, and put on the headset and train for when they are in remote areas of the world in combat. This allows them to get a feel of the grounds before they are actually there. The 360 arial view of the headset enhances the feel of it being real, virtually. Virtual Reality is a clear step towards training the people fighting for our country more aware of the places they are traveling to.

Virtual Reality has also recently been introduced to Realty. Real Estate companies have now introduced virtual reality as a collaboration tool to use with potential buyers. It is intended to be used to show virtual tours for homes. It is primarily used for more expensive homes due to the high cost of using the virtual headset such as the Samsung Gear VR which goes for about $500-$700 per tour. This could be a potential great benefit for buyers and sellers. Collaboration through this virtual reality headset in real estate will soon be available to may other companies.
